TECHNOLOGY

Our proprietary biomass fuel pellet technology is protected by U.S. Patent #5643342 and is based on using wood blended with other locally sourced materials such as bark, grass, and non-chlorinated recycled plastic to create composite pellets that have a lower moisture content, are cleaner burning and yield higher energy production than traditional biomass alone. Our biomass fuel technology is a more cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to thermal energy produced by oil, propane, and electricity. The positive economic and environmental implications of this technology are numerous:

Positive Implications of Our Patented Biomass Technology

Economic
Reduced Transportation Costs
Lower Moisture Content Resulting in Lower Emissions & Higher Efficiency
Lower Cost per MMBTU than Oil, Propane, Electricity & Even Traditional Biomass Alone
Fewer Losses/Waste Due to Material Handling & Moisture: 5-10% Savings
Environmental
Lower Carbon Monoxide Emissions
Less Particulate Matter
Use of Materials Like Bark, Fines, Pins & Used Plastic That Would Otherwise be Waste Products
Use of Raw Materials Like Grass That are Annually Renewable
Sourcing Raw Materials Locally, Thereby Reducing Carbon Footprint on Earth
Providing an Alternative Thermal Fuel Source to Non-Renewable Fuels such as Oil, Propane, & Coal
Reduced Wood Dust for Better Air Quality & Help in Meeting with MACT & OSHA Standards
Reduced Fire Risk

While our patented biomass fuel technology is new, the industry for solid biomass fuels as an alternative to oil, propane and electricity has existed since the dawn of human existence. However, solid biomass fuels currently only represent about 3% of thermal energy production in the U.S., despite the fact that solid biomass fuels are cheaper, cleaner, and more sustainable than oil and propane. As the market focuses on lower fuel costs, energy independence, and more environmentally friendly fuels, we anticipate significant growth in the thermal biomass business, particularly as the industry looks for ways to substitute for oil, propane, and electricity. By way of example, Europe has been more aggressive than the US in replacing fossil fuels in thermal energy uses whereby biomass energy represents more than 12% of total thermal energy production. At Pelletco, we will strive to lead our country to follow the biomass adoption trends in Europe and believe that our patented technology will provide the solution to fossil fuel dependence, thus paving the way for a cleaner and better future.
